The Killing Fields
A Passion Project
This event is organised as the Passion Project of one of our students in Year 10 at La Grande Boissière.
Through this initiative, the event aims to raise awareness and funds for countries still affected by landmines, particularly Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam. Decades after the conflicts that led to their widespread use, landmines continue to pose a serious threat to local communities. They still cause injuries and fatalities, while also preventing safe access to farmland, schools, and essential infrastructure. Organizations working in these regions are dedicated to clearing landmines, supporting survivors, and educating communities about the dangers they pose.
At the end of the screening, there will be an opportunity to make a voluntary donation to support efforts aimed at the removal of landmines and assistance to affected communities. In addition, snacks and drinks will be available at the bar, and all proceeds from their sale will contribute to the fundraising effort.
By attending this event, you are supporting a student-led initiative while also helping raise awareness about an ongoing humanitarian issue and contributing to efforts that make communities safer.
