Scènes Croisées
Area Jeune Ballet & Equilibrio Dinamico
Two companies, two distinct choreographic worlds, one shared stage. Two years after their first encounter at the Centre des arts, Area Jeune Ballet and Equilibrio Dinamico come together once again for an evening of dance shaped by exchange, discovery and shared artistic expression.
In ALA, Italian-Nigerian choreographer Nnamdi Nwagwu, the first Afro-Italian artist to create a work for Stuttgart Ballet, reconnects with his roots through a word in Igbo, his family’s language: à, meaning ‘the earth’. Accompanied by the music of Ukrainian group DakhaBrakha, this 25-minute work gives the body a voice, expressing what words alone cannot convey.
In Into Outside, choreographer Édouard Hue explores the relationship between the individual and the group: how do we find our place without taking away from others? Area Jeune Ballet performs an excerpt from the work, alongside a piece by Rossana Caldarera. Equilibrio Dinamico completes the programme with a new creation, bringing another perspective to this artistic encounter.

Equilibrio Dinamico — Italy
Artistic Director: Roberta Ferrara
Based in Bari, Equilibrio Dinamico has been developing an artistic practice rooted in openness and exchange since 2011. Under the direction of Roberta Ferrara, the company invites choreographers from a wide range of backgrounds to create new works for its dancers. Blending conceptual approaches with contemporary dance, its work offers a thoughtful, compassionate perspective on the world around us.
Area Jeune Ballet — Geneva, Switzerland
Artistic Director: Guillaume Chevalier-Siard
Founded in 2016, Area Jeune Ballet is the young company of Dance Area, a dance school based in Geneva. Its dancers, aged 18 to 22 and drawn from across the world, undertake a three-year advanced training programme that combines work with guest choreographers, touring opportunities and first-hand experience of professional performance. Collaborations with other companies, including Equilibrio Dinamico, are an integral part of this journey.
The programme also opens doors to professional careers on the international stage. During the 2025–26 season, dancers from the graduating cohort went on to join companies including Ballet Theater Hof in Germany, Sydney Dance Company, Conny Janssen Danst in Amsterdam, the National Ballet of Serbia and Cara B Danza in Madrid.
